Just to explain, I've had a little bit of news lately about my heart health. I had been feeling tired, which I made the mistake of mentioning to my primary care physician. BTW, this is something you should never tell a doctor unless you'd like to spend quite a bit of time and money on diagnostics.
Anyway, I then had an abnormal EKG, and bloodwork that showed highly elevated C-Reactive Protein levels. In a nutshell, ladies and gents, I am a heart attack waiting to happen. Hmmm... could it have to do with all that chocolate and pasta I enjoy so much?
So, I've been making a real point of improving my eating. My husband wrinkled his nose at my yogurt-flaxseed-protein powder-blueberry breakfast smoothie, but frankly I felt a lot better after drinking it than I would have after a bagel slathered with cream cheese (or so I keep telling myself). Anyway, last night I went out with a friend. We have a long-standing Mommy break where we overindulge in chocolate cake and talk about all the things we don't tell people on the internet.
What did I learn last night? The small scoop of berry gelato with a cup of green tea was, honestly, just as good. It wasn't the chocolate cake I've been craving, it was the company. Huh. Who knew?
